Lexington, Knoxville flying high as postseason nears

Aside from the 2024 USL Jägermeister Cup Final between Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC and Forward Madison FC set for Sept. 28, the rhythm of the regular season has returned as the postseason nears. All 12 teams are in action this Saturday and there's plenty on the line.

Ahead of Week 21's conclusion, find News & Notes, the Discipline Report and current player, team and league records below.

NEWS & NOTES

LEXINGTON LOOKING LIKE THE LEXINGTON WE EXPECTED?

In just its second match at its new Lexington SC Stadium, Lexington smashed Central Valley with a staggering 7-1 scoreline. Veteran goalscorer Cameron Lancaster joined Ronaldo Damus (North Texas, San Diego) as the only players to record hat tricks in both the USL Championship and USL League One, and Nico Brown and Ates Diouf both tallied a pair of goal contributions. Lexington's victory - easily the largest in club history - matches the record for the largest in league history. While there have been 28 victories by four goals since the league's inception in 2019, only four teams have recorded a margin of victory of more than four goals.

Largest margins of victory in League One history:

  1. Lexington 7 - 1 Central Valley (Sept. 18, 2024)
  2. Chattanooga 7 - 1 Charlotte (June 22, 2022)
  3. Lansing 5 - 0 Tucson (Sept. 6, 2019)
  4. North Texas 5 - 0 South Georgia (Aug. 27, 2019)

ONE AWAY FROM MATCHING A ONE KNOX RECORD

Ahead of a high-stakes clash in Nebraska with Union Omaha on Saturday, Knoxville are riding an 11-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, one shy of equaling its all-time record of 12 set during its inaugural 2022 USL League Two campaign. During its current run, Knoxville have outscored its opponents 13-5 and have not conceded more than one goal in a single match. During the three-month span, the third-year side has been aided by Kempes Tekiela's five goals and a combined seven clean sheets from goalkeepers Sean Lewis and Johan Garibay.

Longest unbeaten streaks among League One clubs (across all competitions):

  1. Chattanooga - 15 (6/12/21 - 9/10/21)
    • 6-0-9; USL League One
  2. Omaha - 14 (7/29/23 - 10/28/23)
    • 13-0-1; USL League One
  3. Northern Colorado - 12 (5/13/23 - 7/26/23)
    • 9-0-3, USL League One
  4. Lansing - 12 (7/6/19 - 10/5/19)
    • 7-0-5; USL League One
  5. Knoxville - 11 (6/29/24 - Present)
    • 6-0-5; USL League One, USL Jägermeister Cup
  6. Charlotte - 11 (6/29/24 - 9/11/24)
    • 6-0-5; USL League One, USL Jägermeister Cup
  7. Omaha - 11 (6/24/22 - 8/26/22)
    • 5-0-6; USL League One
