Owls make history with third Players' Shield, will finish atop regular season table for second consecutive season

TAMPA, Fla. - Union Omaha today won the 2024 USL League One Players' Shield after erasing a two-goal deficit to defeat South Georgia Tormenta FC at Tormenta Stadium and Forward Madison FC recording a draw against One Knoxville SC at Breese Stevens Field earlier in the evening.

Guaranteed to finish atop the table once the regular season concludes on Oct. 26, the Owls are the only team in League One history to win the Players' Shield on multiple occasions after finishing in first place at the conclusion of the 2021, 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Omaha are led by head coach Dominic Casciato, who has now won two Players' Shields in each of his first two seasons as a head coach. On the pitch, the Owls' trophy-winning regular season campaign has been aided thus far by Pedro Dolabella's 10 goals and four assists, Joe Gallardo's eight goal contributions, Steevan Dos Santos' five goals, and Rashid Nuhu's 57 saves and seven clean sheets.

Omaha join Orlando City SC (USL Championship; 2011, 2012, 2014) and North Carolina Courage (NWSL; 2017, 2018, 2019) as the only teams in modern American professional soccer history to finish atop their respective regular season tables in three of their first five seasons of existence.

Following its final regular season match, Omaha will progress to the 2024 USL League One Playoffs, presented by Terminix as the top seed and maintain home-field advantage throughout the duration of the competition. The top-seeded Owls will aim to become the first team in League One history to be crowned postseason champions on multiple occasions.
